Everytime I Enter Serial Key In Office It Installs

Microsoft Office product keys are encrypted inside the Windows Registry, so searching for them manually is nearly impossible. You'll find a string of numbers once you locate the correct registry key, but what you'll find is encrypted text, not a working Office product key you can enter. Jan 13, 2014  Can I install Office 2010 without a product key? Click on buy and version and it will allow you to enter your product key. I deploy images using wds and this works for us. I tried obtaining an Office 2010 Home and Business trial key, and used it to install Office on my image template machine. This allowed me to get Office into the image.

I am looking to upgrade roughly 150 clients from office 2007 to office 2010. As we have a corporate serial key I'm not really want to install this by entering in the key manually by myself every time. I know that you can somehow 'embed' the serial key into the installation files so that you do not need to manually enter the serial key, but do now know how. So how do I go about this?

Check out this walk-through It requires an XML file similar to Windows 7 unattended install.

Alternatively, you could make all the end users fend for themselves during the upgrade :)

Considering the amount of users, if you have a Volume License key you can set up a KMS server and have the activation automated locally rather then having to enter the key. You can read more about KMS (Volume Activation) here

The idea is that you have your own activation server locally on your network, which will automatically be detected when Office and Windows for that matter, tries to activate. It will use the KMS key provided by Microsoft to activate. The advantage is that the end users do not need a key at all, and during activation it will retrieve the correct key from the server.

We use it on our network with huge success.

Options:

  1. Run setup /admin and you get a nice little gui which allows you to enter a product key and save the results as a msp file. Put this msp file in the updates directory
  2. Edit the config.xml file. This file will be under the release directory (ProPlus.ww or Enteprise.ww or something like that). Be aware: this leaves your key in plain text on your distribution point
  3. Use the Volume Activation Management Tool after installation
  4. Setup your own Key Management Server

There are a couple of possible causes, first, you have an unactivated trial version also installed:

You are prompted for the product key when you open an Office program - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321346 - Multiple installations of same version

The other one is Windows is not giving you the right access rights to the registry, so it is not actually saving your activation.

If you want to first confirm that access rights are a problem this article describes how: http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Why-Applications-Dont-work-standard-users.html

If that doesn't work, try running an app as admin and entering the product key.

Win 7 5 ways to Run As Adminhttp://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11841-run-administrator.html

In Windows 7, even when you are logged in as administrator, UAC no longer gives you “Full” administrator rights. To get all of the access you now also have “run as administrator”

It appears there is an error where your userid is not being allowed to update the activation information.

What you need to do is 'runas admin':

·Go to the start menu and find the program icon you want to start

·<Shift> <Right Click> on it

·Select “Run as …”

If that doesn’t work try this:

·In the start menu, right click on the shortcut for any Office app, select “RunAs Admin”
If runas does not appear, right click and drag the shortcut to the desktop

·create a shortcut on the desktop.

·Right click on the desktop shortcut,

Finder

· runas admin should be there.

Activate the application/office:

·2007 Office button / 2010 File tab

Serial Key Crack

·Help

·Click on “Activate the Application”

·Follow prompts to enter product key

·Close the app
